Chili and Brewfest 2008

This weekend is the chili and brewfest out at Snowmass Village, CO.

For $25, we got plenty of yummy micro brew drinks, chili tasting and good music, good company, and good fun.

It was our first of hopefully several concerts at this venue this summer. They regularly have concerts (some free - others pretty cheap) at this particular area.

In the winter, this grassy area is the snowy bottom of the chairlift to popular skiing.

This summer though, it is going to be where many of us - including yours truly - will have our buns cradled by grassy knolls and our souls soothed to fantastic music. ( or at the very least, beer will be had )

I love this site!!
I get updates every day.
Starting your day off with some funny and cute cat pictures (and sometimes other species) and laughing out loud is definitely how I like to start my day.

I have the feed to the right on my blog.
Just click on the blue titles and you will be transfered to funniness immediately!

home sweet home

I had a request for pictures of our place and the creek by us. The wood building is the building we live in. The sliding glass door you see is one of the doors into our apartement. There are maybe 8 - 10 apartments in this building, a gas station directly above us and a couple other stores. The pictures of the creek are from a couple weeks ago when it was still higher and much faster. Its calmed down a bit since a good portion of the snow has melted.

operation vacation

Last Saturday, Glenwood Springs hosted a fundraiser for operation vacation. There were bands and microbreweries to entertain us while we spent money. We had so much fun. Too much fun, actually! I lost balance at some point and seriously damaged something in/around my ankle. It still hurts pretty bad.
Good times. Good times. ;0)

flowers

I love flowers!! I miss my garden in Lawrence SO MUCH!!!! I wish I could see how it looks this year. The 3rd-5th year after planting is usually when its best - or so I've been told - b/c its finally starting to grow big and thick, but not overgrown yet. This would have been my garden's 3rd year. Dang. Julie... want to drive by and take a picture of it for me? ;)
So, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade, right? I am making do with what we have room for and am doing pots this year. Our area is quite shady - which we will be oh so grateful for this July and August - so my selection of my favorite flowers is much fewer. Regardless, I am happy with my little pots. I took my houseplants outside too, so our porch/patio area is full of flowers and plants, just like old times!!!

goin' to the city

After school got out and before I started the new job, we went on a mini vacation to Denver to go shopping, eating, browsing, drinking, etc..., basically we went to the city to enjoy, well, the CITY!!!!!
We checked out the Denver Zoo. It was great. I highly recommend it.
We checked out "chain" restraunts and "chain" shopping centers to get a taste of ordinary once again! We celebrated Cinco de Mayo at On the Border. The food and service was mediocre, but I was mostly there for the Dos XX on tap! Yum!! One of my favorite indulgences in the summer! We got some free stuff while we were there, too. I took Ladd to Joe's Crab Shack, since he's never been. That was fun and it was way too much food. Good stuff.
We had a good time. Now we're back in mountain land. Life is good.
Here are some of my favorite pics from the weekend. They include pics from the zoo, dining, city of boulder, view of the "front range", etc. Of course, most of my favorite pictures from the zoo are of the big kitties!! I love my cats! Can't wait to touch one someday!! (when its under anesthesia, of course!!)
Enjoy!
